Deepika Padukone will play historical character Mastani with Ranveer Singh playing Bajirao Peshwa in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. Their casting puts an end to months of speculation about who would play the role. Besides Ranveer, Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgn were the strongest contenders.
