Rediscovering the #HiddenGemsOfIndia classics I introduced you to a delicious chutney made of horse gram - Kollu Thuvaiyal. Pair it with Dosa or Idli for a beautiful breakfast twist.
Ingredients
½ cup horsegram (kulith)
1 tbsp coconut oil
5 dried red chillies stemmed
6-8 garlic cloves
1 cup scraped fresh coconut
Salt to taste
1 lemon sized tamarind ball
Steamed rice for serving
Ghee for serving
Method
1. Heat a non-stick pan. Add horse gram and sauté till fragrant. Set aside to cool down.
2. Heat coconut oil in the same pan. Add dried red chillies garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Transfer in the same plate and set aside to cool down.
3. Add coconut and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Allow to cool.
4. Add salt and mix well.
5. Transfer in a grinder jar. Add ½ cup water tamarind and grind to fine paste.
6. Transfer in a serving bowl. Serve hot with steamed rice and ghee.
