TULSI TEA
Ingredients
15-20 fresh holy basil leaves (tulsi)
1 inch ginger
5-6 black peppercorns
2 cloves
2 green cardamoms
1 tbsp tea leaves
3 cups milk
¼ cup chopped jaggery
Biscuits to serve
Method
1. Put the ginger in a mortar and coarsely pound with the help of a pestle. Add black peppercorns cloves and green cardamoms and pound again to a coarse mixture.
2. Heat 1 cup water in a deep pan. Add the crushed mixture and mix well. Add tea leaves mix and let it come to a boil.
3. Add the tulsi and mix well. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
4. Stir in the milk and cook till it comes to a boil. Continue to boil for 3-4 minutes.
5. Reduce the heat to medium and add jaggery and mix well. Cook till it comes to a boil or till the jaggery melts.
6. Switch the heat off and strain the tea into individual serving glasses.
7. Serve hot with biscuits.
