A popular Parsi tea time snack made with only a handful of ingredients Bhakra tastes delicious in each bite. Try out these puffed puri like looking crisps today. BHAKRA Ingredients 1½ cups whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) 1 cup semolina ½ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp nutmeg powder ½ tsp green cardamom powder ⅓ cup yogurt ⅓ cup castor sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla essence 1 tbsp ghee + for greasing + for deep frying Method 1. Take whole wheat flour in a large bowl. Add semolina baking powder nutmeg powder green cardamom powder and mix well. Add yogurt castor sugar and break in the eggs directly into the mixture. Mix and knead till a soft dough is formed. Add vanilla essence and ghee and knead again till a smooth ball is formed. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for 30 minutes. 2. Grease the worktop with some ghee take a portion of the dough and shape it into a ball. Roll it into a large disc. Cut out roundels using a small cookie cutter. 3. Heat sufficient ghee in a wide kadai. Gently slide in the roundels a few at a time and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper. 4. Allow to cool completely. Serve.
