OPEN MEAT BALL SANDWICH
Ingredients
1 cup chicken mince
1 baguette
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon English mustard
1 teaspoon mixed dried herbs
½ teaspoon tomato ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
1 egg
½ cup breadcrumbs
Oil for shallow-frying
½ cup cheese spread
50 grams processed cheese
50 grams mozzarella cheese
Method
1. Preheat oven at 180ºC.
2. Combine chicken mince, onion, garlic, mustard, mixed herbs,
tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and crushed
peppercorns in a bowl and mix well.
3. Add egg and mix well. Add breadcrumbs and mix well. Divide the
mixture into equal portions and shape them into small balls.
4. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan. Shallow-fry the meat balls till
golden and evenly cooked. Drain on absorbent paper.
5. Slice the baguette and toast the slices in the preheated oven.
6. Spread a spoonful of cheese spread on each toasted slice and
top with meat balls. Grate processed and mozzarella cheese on
top and gratinate in the preheated oven till the cheese melts.
7. Serve hot.
Preparation Time: 15-20 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
